Of all the holidays during the year, it’s obvious for several reasons that Easter is Rainbow Rabbit’s favorite!
After all, rabbits are synonymous with this Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.
Some have said that the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 18th century, when German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania. When they transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” or “Oschter Haws,” their children made nests in which the creature could lay its colored eggs. This became a custom across the U.S. where a bunny’s morning deliveries consisted of chocolate, as well as assorted candies and gifts. The nests were replaced by decorated baskets. Eggs have also been known to be a symbol of new life, which is exactly how Rainbow Rabbit felt when he was finally accepted by his new friends in Lettuce Valley!
Regardless of how these traditions started, Rainbow Rabbit and his colorful coat will always shine brightly on this very special day.
Happy Easter from all of us at Rainbow Rabbit!
