Rainbow Rabbit Joins the Global Giving Tuesday Movement

Woodbury, New Jersey – Rainbow Rabbit Educational Services Corp. has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

“To get a child from Point A to Point B in their lives and to give them hope that things will get better in their lives is so empowering,” said Joe Vallee, Executive Director at Rainbow Rabbit Educational Services Corp. “I was bullied horribly as a child and in the beginning of my teenage years, and I wish I had a program like Rainbow Rabbit during those times. Everyone’s light should be entitled to shine, and that is being accomplished with Rainbow Rabbit’s universal themes of kindness, caring, acceptance, unity and inclusion. We have donated our program to many schools across the Tri-State area and beyond. Donations received on Giving Tuesday will continue to put our programs in schools and allow us to maximize our potential in research, marketing and to further develop new characters and stories—which will all become part of the Rainbow Rabbit curriculum for years to come.”

92Y − a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has been bringing people together around its core values of community service and giving back − conceptualized #GivingTuesday as a new way of linking individuals and causes to strengthen communities and encourage giving. In 2016, the fifth year of #GivingTuesday, millions of people in 98 countries came together to give back and support the causes they believe in. Over $177 million was raised online to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness.

“We have been incredibly inspired by the generosity in time, efforts and ideas that have brought our concept for a worldwide movement into reality,” said Henry Timms, founder of #GivingTuesday and executive director of 92Y. “As we embark on our sixth year of #GivingTuesday, we are encouraged by the early response from partners eager to continue making an impact in this global conversation.”

About Rainbow Rabbit

Rainbow Rabbit Educational Services Corp. is an IRS-registered 501c non-profit organization (Federal Tax ID: 82-1643193).  The character of Rainbow Rabbit was created by former Disney animator Arthur Vallee. It was his strong belief that this tale of unity and inclusion, with an emphasis on the importance of belonging, would capture the hearts of children and adults.

When Rainbow Rabbit started his adventure, he was very sad and lonely. He looked different from everybody else and was not accepted by those around him. But thanks to the kindness of the queen, he realized that his unique qualities made him special. This made Rainbow Rabbit optimistic that his future would be as bright and colorful as he was. His story sends a strong message that everyone should be treated equally. The story has been adapted into a comprehensive Anti-Bullying Program spanning grades K through 4. Rainbow Rabbit’s mission is to address the serious issues affecting today’s children and to bring about positive change through the program.
