Strong Museum Welcomes Rainbow Rabbit Collection

Strong Museum of Play

The Strong National Museum of Play has added materials related to Rainbow Rabbit to its collection. This addition strengthens the museum’s status as the world’s most comprehensive collection of toys and games.

What’s In A Name?

Margaret Woodbury Strong founded The Strong Museum in 1969 in Rochester, New York. The highly interactive museum features popular attractions such as the Skyline Climb and Butterfly Garden. It is also home to the World Video Game Hall of Fame and the National Toy Hall of Fame. The Toy Hall’s 2025 inductees include Battleship, Slime, and Trivial Pursuit. Earlier inductees include Masters of the Universe and My Little Pony. They also feature Lite-Brite and the Atari 2600. This reflects the museum’s commitment to preserving the history of play across generations.

Contributions, Preschool & More!

The museum receives significant financial support from the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Exhibitions and Public Programs division. It also benefits from contributions through Individual and Corporate Giving. In addition to its exhibits, The Strong operates the Woodbury School, a preschool program for children ages three to five.

A Word From the Strong Museum Curator

“The museum is pleased to count a group of Rainbow Rabbit materials among the more than 4,500 items added to The Strong Museum’s collection in 2025,” said Christopher Bensch, Vice President of Collections and Chief Curator. “We’re always looking for items and documents that enhance how we present the history of play and playthings, and the story behind Rainbow Rabbit is a compelling one with a message that remains pertinent today.”

Strong Museum Offers An Unforgettable Experience

To say there is something for everyone at the Strong Museum is a vast understatement. Visitors can revisit their youth by exploring the museum’s extensive toy collection. They can also enjoy attractions such as the Carousel and Train. They can easily spend hours discovering the wide variety of exhibits and experiences available.

The Strong Museum also offers College and University Programs for undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to Field Trips, The Strong also provides summer camps for younger audiences. These camps include offerings such as a Video Game Creation Workshop, where children get hands-on opportunities to learn through play
