FOX19 Cincinnati speaks with Executive Director Joe Vallee, on the day of the Rainbow Rabbit children’s book relaunch.
Anchor/Reporter Jordan Vilines discussed several topics, ranging from the history of Rainbow Rabbit, as well as what children can learn from the valuable lessons the book teaches.
The book features new illustrations by artist Tharuka Shyaman. In addition, the book now has revisions by Joe Vallee (Arthur’s grandson) and his wife, Maggie.
Arthur Vallee, a Walt Disney Company animator during the 1940s, created a story that focuses on a colorful rabbit. The rabbit’s coat makes him an outcast in his community because he looks different on the exterior. The story has received praise from local New Jersey educators and former First Lady of California, Maria Shriver. In the process, the Vallee family developed the story into a school program that helps children celebrate their unique differences and rewards kindness.
The program was assembled with the help of educators, and school psychologists. It now includes Pre-School lessons and is available digitally, as well as a hard copy. Rainbow Rabbit has appeared on SNJ Today, NJ.com, and various websites and podcasts across the country.
The story of Rainbow Rabbit relays a strong message to today’s youth and strives to bring about positive change.
The new edition of Rainbow Rabbit is now available on Amazon.com. It can be purchased in the form of a physical copy, or on Kindle. The book is also accessible on Rainbow Rabbit’s website.
